Message: This morning (July 3) one of my sons and I drove to the Uinta
Mountains for the previously reported Williamson's Sapsucker and the
Three-toed Woodpecker. Following the good directions previously given
about their locations (Provo Falls for the Williamson's and the forked
tree near Mirror Lake for the Three-toed), we had little difficulty in
locating them. The best thing to do is find a nice hard rock or fallen

tree to sit on and wait for them to show themselves.

At both locations and for both birds, we found their nesting site and
saw both sexes.

There were several Clark's Nutcrackers at Mirror Lake.

The Mirror Lake area is attracting out-of-state birders. A couple of
weeks ago, I met a "Wings" group from all part of the U.S. were there,
and this morning a couple from Minneapolis were looking for the above
named birds. I feel fortunate for the birding opportunities we have in

Utah.
