I made a quick trip out to Farmington Bay after work today. The weather =
was just too nice to hurry home!! There were literally hundreds of =
Avocets on the east side of the dike! I figure that the Avocets must =
have chased the Bald Eagles away-- a few weeks ago there were a couple =
hundred baldies present, and no Avocets, today there were 3 baldies and =
hundreds of Avocets. Nope, those attractive Avocets must not be as =
docile as they appear!!! I think they must have also chased the Rough =
Leg Hawks away, as I saw only one and he was hiding on one of the =
crossbraces of a power pole near the ponds at the end of Glover Lane, =
far away from the territory taken over by the Avocets!
That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it!!
Also saw Green Wing Teals, Cinnamon Teals, Pintails, Shovelers, =
Buffleheads, and Goldeneyes.
Good Birding!!!
