Jackson Flat Reservoir

Jackson Flat Reservoir with airport to the West and Kanab to the North

 From "Visit Southern Utah" website

Directions:  From US 89 in Kanab at 300 South and 100 East go south on Highway 89A about 2 miles or so to where the main highway bends to the west, near the airport.  Take the smaller road going straight. Turn left and go straight (a couple of blocks) to the reservoir.

Birding: A dirt road goes around the south end of the reservoir curving around the east side. About half way up the east side there's a peninsula the juts out into the reservoir which provides a good viewing place after a short walk.

Good Birds: Lots of waterfowl year round, and Common and Red-breasted Mergansers, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead and Common Goldeneye, etc. in migration.  There was a Fulvous Whistling-Duck spotted there in October of 2019.
