Nests in a deciduous tree or in a shrub at a height of 10-20 (0-30) feet, in a platform nest. This species is not a cowbird host. This species is a crustaceovore/piscivore: water ambusher.
  
Habitat: Breeds in Utah in lowland riparian and wetlands habitats.
