Nests in a shrub or in a tree at a height of 3-12 (0.5-15) feet, in a cup nest. This species is a frequent cowbird host. During the breeding season, this species is an omnivore: ground forager foliage gleaner. During the non-breeding seasons this species is a gleaner.
     
Habitat: Breeds in Utah in lowland riparian habitat.
