Background:  I've been interested in photography most of my life. In 2006 I started photographing birds as it combines two of my favorite past-times. It has also helped me become a better birder. I spend most of my time birding and shooting photos along the Wasatch Front but especially love those seldom-visited, out-of-the-way places for which Utah is renowned.

Equipment: I started digital photography in 2006 with a Nikon D-50 but broke down in 2008 and purchased a Nikon D3. I love it completely, utterly, and unreservedly. I typically use a Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR lens but have also used a Nikon 28-105 mm every now and then. I have also coupled it with a Swarovski scope on a few occasions. Very unwieldy, but with interesting results.

Comment: I appreciate all the great photographers that post their photos on the utahbirds.org photo gallery. They are very skilled, spend lots of time and money, and we are all grateful they share their spectacular images with us.
