Background:
I spent my early years growing up in Southern California, where I took every opportunity to explore nature and the outdoors. I currently reside in Provo, Utah, where I enjoy the proximity to the mountains, desert, and local rivers and lakes.
I received my degree in Zoology, with an emphasis in bird taxonomy, from Brigham Young University in 1988. While working as a researcher for the National Forest Service and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in the early 1990s, I was invited to work on a project for Morton Publishing, A Photographic Atlas for the Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory. After completion of that title I started work on A Photographic Atlas for the Zoology Laboratory. To date I have completed five titles with Morton Publishing.
I have worked in a number of capacities. I spent time from 1988 to 2002 working in the broadcast television industry and concurrent to that I ran a small advertising and design company, which I sold off in 2011. I now stay busy working on my books and trying to get out and make pictures as often as I can. My main interest is bird photography.
I have spent much of my life observing nature and taking pictures. My photography has provided me the opportunity to travel widely, allowing me to observe and learn about other cultures and lands. I have worked for groups such as Delta Airlines, National Geographic, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and many others. My projects with Morton Publishing have been a great fit for my passion for photography and the biological sciences.

Equipment:
I use Nikon gear. I have several bodies and a nice group of lenses ranging from 14mm to 600mm ((840mm and 1200mm depending on if I use converters).
