Field Marks and Identifying Characteristics: |
Brightly colored bird. Looked extremely red on belly.
Grey or blue on head and wings. Yellow or white on the back. Jumping on
the end branches of a very tall pine tree near the restrooms of Lava
Point Campground. (see photos) |
Song or call & method of delivery: | He was calling but it did not pick up on Merlin. Other birds were in the area. Yellow Rumped Warbler came up. |
Behavior: | Sang from one branch. Jumped to another branch in the wide open on the end. Jumped to another branch in same tree in the open. |

Similar
species and
how were they eliminated: |
I thought perhaps it was a painted redstart because of the red belly and dark top but it had yellow on back side. |
