Field Marks and Identifying Characteristics: |
This birds light colored eyebrow stood out as did the black eyeline. The
pale streaking on the flanks was noticeable as well. The yellow under it
s tail stood out too. It s tail which it was constantly pumping seemed a
bit longer than other warblers. No wing bars. It was gray overall & busy
moving about. A RCKI was present also. (see photos) |
Song or call & method of delivery: | Quiet |
Behavior: | Actively moving about from branch to branch. |
Habitat: | Brush & trees along small shallow canal & nearby Bountiful pond. |
Similar
species and
how were they eliminated: |
Tail longer than YRWA. Flank streaking more defined than OCWA. Facial markings ruled out other warblers. No yellow on upper rump like YRWA. No wing barring which ruled out Blackburnian. We both thought it had somewhat of a vireo head shape. |
