Field Marks and
Identifying Characteristics:
We were walking around the campground looking for birds like cedar waxwings in particular, I looked up because I had heard a wax wing when I saw a bird fly directly into my eyesight and across from one tree to another, approx 30ish meters
My friend didn't see the bird until later when it flew back to the same tree, we both observed it to had bright scarlet red body similar to a summer tanager, roughly western tanager size with noticable black wings. We spent a couple of hours debating what It could've been, although we had already decided it was likely a Scarlet Tanager a few mins after the 3rd and last sighting
