Field Marks and
Identifying Characteristics:
Small warbler with a short tail, round body, and general colors of gray, yellow, white, and olive.

Bright yellow throat and upper breast transitions to white belly, flanks, and undertail. Back/mantle is yellowish-green, while the head, nape, and rump are bluish-gray. Head, nape, and rump also have a slight olive tinge in some areas. Wings and tail are gray. wings have 2 short but distinct white wing-bars.

Eyes have an white arc or crescent above and below, but not a complete eyering. Bill is pointed, black on top and yellow on bottom.

This bird could be immature since it has a light olive/green wash on its head, nape, and rump and does not have a chestnut band between the neck and breast.

This bird was captured in a mist net on the UTTR North. Measurements:

Similar species and how
were they eliminated:
Nashville or Virginia's warbler. Both these species have yellow undertail and a complete white eyering, and our bird had eye arcs and a white undertail. Our bird had yellow on the bottom bill and 2 white wing bars, which neither of these birds have.

No experience with Northern parula. Lots of experience with warblers that commonly occur in Utah
