Identifying Characteristics:
Pinkish forehead and dark chin patch. Dark conical bill. Not overly heavy. Unstreaked chest , but unable to observe chest coloration.

Behavior: Perched
Habitat: Montane, subalpine fir and scattered clumps of aspen. below ridge line
Similar species and how
were they eliminated:
Pink to reddish forehead and definite chin patch. Chest not streaked.
Previous experience with
this & similar species:
No experience with this species prior to sighting . Very familiar with locally occurring Cassin's Finch and Gray-crowned Rosy Finch.
