I received a call from Kevin Wheeler that he and the Red Cliffs Audubon field trip participants had located a Red-necked Grebe at QCSP. When I arrived it was actively diving off the west dike parking area.

Description:
Slightly but distinctly smaller than nearby Western Grebes. Black back, gray sides and flanks, blackish head with large white cheek patch. Rufous on neck breast, and yellowish bill with a black culmen.
