Record # 2011-13B
Possible Lesser Black-backed Gull
Note: Photos of LBBG #2 by Steven Mlodinow
As you can tell, [B] was farther away than [A]... All
were identified through a Swarovski 65mm, 25-45x scope in high overcast
conditions. On all birds, a yellow bill with red spot, head streaking,
white (or near white) eye, and yellow legs were noted. All were directly
compared with Cal Gulls and appeared a tad larger and darker mantled.
The mantle color was observed for a few minutes in each circumstance, to
make certain that differences in back color were not due to light angle,
etc. |
