John Williams (22 Nov 2017) - [Sevier River Bike Path] - Osprey. I
have seen this bird multiple times over the last two months along the Sevier
River bike path that I travel often. Always in the same vicinity. I thought it
odd that it had not left the area yet. I was away for a couple of weeks and was
sure it would be gone when I returned but there it was again. I have been in
this area for five years and this is the first osprey I have seen. I will try
and get a picture.

Purple Martins were documented last year in Lewis Hollow, the same area they
were seen again this year. Photos were taken last year to document this species
(Checklist S30372398). The three seen were a glossy, dark bluish-purple color
and had notched tails, dark eyes, and dark legs. They were larger than the
violet-green swallows which were also in the area.

Williamson's Sapsucker. 1st year bird. Overall fine black and dusky barring
with a dark smudge of bib in upper breast. Head brownish with hazy gray around
bveye and face. It behaved like a young bird clinging to an upper trunk of a
pinyon pine tree. It did not appear to have any yellow on its belly from what I
could see, but the under belly was mostly hidden. I waited for some time but it
didn't change position. There was no underside speckling as a flicker. Barring

compound in the far back. Also, I first saw it moving up the trunk somewhat like
a Brown Creeper would do, then it stopped and hugged the trunk and would not
move.

of us participated in the excellent Utah County Birders field trip led by Dennis
Shirley. We covered four counties: Millard, Juab, Sevier and Sanpete. In Sevier
County we located a EURASIAN WIGEON on the Redmond Reservoir. Also there
were some Vesper Sparrows in a ploughed field and Tree Swallows
flying east side of the reservoir.

Aquarius Plateau), lots of Osprey and a few Hummingbirds around, but
very few waterfowl on the lake . Then I hit Koosherum reservoir, had an odd
looking buff sparrow hop up on a fence that looked an awfully lot like a
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.

small pond which can be reached by taking Glenwood Road east to 2450 East, and going south
1.2 miles to the pond on the right (LW).
COMMON LOONS were seen on Koosharum Reservoir on Saturday, 04/10 (LW).
An immature TUNDRA SWAN was seen about 4 miles east of Richfield on Thursday, 04/22
(TM).
A COMMON LOON was still on Koosharem Reservoir as of Friday, 04/23 (JF).
