Ian Batterman (25 May 2016) - [Bear River MBR] - GLOSSY IBIS. Seen at the beginning of the loop; blue bordered face and dark black eye definitive field marks. Was within 10 feet of my car, so I got really good looks.
     -- BLACK TERN.
     -- LEAST TERN. Flying above cattails near end of the loop; tiny white tern with black outermost primaries.
     --  COMMON TERN. Mixed in with Forster's Terns; at first I thought it was a Least Tern with the white forehead, but it was the same size as the Forster's Terns and had a dark bill. The definitive mark was the black eye band that extended from eye-to-eye connecting at the back of the head and not the typical broken eye bands of an immature Forster's Tern.
     -- SWAMP SPARROW. Continuing bird seen at the south side of the Auto loop. Reddish wings, cap, and tail, and darker grey body and face with no belly streaking clear field marks.

Sam Robertson (18 May 2016) - [Logan River - Icon Trail] - Rose-breasted Grosbeak. It was chasing a pair of Black-headed Grosbeaks and it landed 15 feet away on the fence. It was unmistakeable to what it was. It had the red breast with white underparts with white wing bars and a whitish beak and an all black head and back. Very cool bird.

Cullen Clark (16 May 2016) - [Logan River - Icon Trail] - Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I saw it twice briefly flying across open fields into thickly wooded (willow trees along the river) areas. It was trying to get away from mobbing American Robins. It was similar in size to the Robins but it was slender with a long tail. The body was brown on top and white underneath. It had a long yellow bill. I tried to follow but the wooded area it went into was flooded and I had to return to work. My only experience with this species is photographs but I cannot think of anything else that matches what I saw.

Deborah Barnes (16 May 2016) - [Four Mile Ranch & Lek] - Sharp-tailed Grouse. Saw at least 8 males waiting for the females to arrive. When a lesser male arrived they grouse started to dance then realized that it was a male and stopped. Weather was overcast and drippy.

Tim Avery (15 May 2016) - [Little Cottonwood Canyon] - Broad-winged Hawk. Observed flying in same view as a Red-tailed Hawk. This bird was noticeably smaller, with "broad-wings" giving it a stocky appearance. The birds was circling over the cliffs and disappeared out of view before I could grab my camera. We waited about 10 minutes hoping it would return without any luck. Although we didn't observe any "fine" details, the shape and size of the birds, as well as its flight style are consistent with the smaller buteo. The wings and shape weren't right for any accipiter, leaving BWHA as the best choice. This time of year also seems to be the spring height of migration for this species in Utah.

Weston Smith (27 May 2016) - [Echo Canyon above reservoir] - Peregrine Falcon. I climbed a mountain adjacent to where I presumed falcons were nesting. I was able to view what looked like three young in the nest. After spending sometime watching them I descended to find a good friend of mine looking for the adults. After conferring for awhile about what I'd seen from the mountain we saw two people moving above the nest site. We soon learned they were there to rappel into nest to retrieve young. I contacted UDWR since sometimes birds are taken without permits. Several officers responded to investigate. I was later contacted by UDWR and informed the falconers took two of the three young and they had all the legal documents/permits to do so. I can see the pros and cons of this from both side (birder and falconer) but personally sadden as I have seen many nests fail with low numbers of young and the adults abandon the nest site do to the failure. I hope the nest is successful since there are so few public places to view these wonders of nature.

Hard to pick out among pee-wee, yellow warblers, robins, etc., but a little of the repetitive che-bek is caught. Saw the pee-wee, but not the Least. Tried for about 15min. Was vocalizing most of this time off and on. Note the RV park cannot be entered if not a member or registered guest of member, but like I did, could possibly hear and if lucky, see from the gate.

After chasing the call for approximately 100' without a visual I saw a warbler sized bird fly from the area of the calls, but unable to ID from sight. After this point I was unable to locate the bird again. Another birder gave chase a short time later, but was unable to locate the bird again. Bird was actively moving and singing.
